Manufacturing Design Engineer Optics (m/f/d)

Responsibilities
- Systematically analyze technical manufacturing and field related issues by using diagnostics, protocols, theory of operations, other information and present concepts and solutions to field support team or management for standardization
- Implement optical alignment and metrology process or test/tooling fixtures to improve manufacturing cycle time or cost
- Improve opto-mechanical designs for manufacturability and specify optical components and sub-systems such as lasers, LEDs, optical filters, cameras, sensors, and lens assemblies especially for illumination, imaging, and microscope systems
- Following a design process by performing reviews, technical alignment with vendors, first-article inspection, testing, prototype integration, and design release
- Generate and maintain process and equipment work instructions, drawings, and other production documents to conform to specifications
- Work with Quality and Purchasing departments resolving component/part quality problems, driving overall supplier quality improvements and cost reductions
- Work on a variety of different optical systems from DUV to IR
Profile
- Bachelor/Master's in Physics or other optic related subject, preferably between 1 - 5 years of relevant work experience
- Ability in understanding of optical subsystems and their interface with other subsystems, e.g. mechanical, electrical
- Basic experience with optical designs and simulations in Zemax
- Programming capabilities with MATLAB or Python for user interfaces would be a nice to have
- Able to present and communicate technical data

Ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines
- Be able to work in a multi-discipline and multi-culture global team
- Experience with spectroscopy, coatings, and optomechanics is a plus
